In his 22 years of clinical practice, Matt Green, ABD, CAGS has
treated patients with both psychiatric and addictions disorders.
He has also developed education, hotline and treatment programs
for outpatient clinics, hospitals and human service organizations
nationwide. He has served as a consultant to schools, government
and industry and has authored book chapters, manuals and professional
articles.
Matt is a coprincipal of Sameem Associates, Inc., recognized as
one of the premier outpatient addiction treatment organizations
in the Northeast. Staffed by a multidisciplinary team of certified
and licensed clinicians, Sameem Associates is a comprehensive
treatment center providing outpatient detoxification, family and
group programs, as well as specialty services for adolescents
and their parents, the courts, professional athletes, and survivors
of trauma, at 3 locations around the Boston metropolitan area.
National / International Recognition
Matt Green coordinated clinical resources for Robert Stutman and
Associates, Inc., a drugs in the workplace consulting firm. Robert
Stutman is an internationally recognized expert and former DEA
(Drug Enforcement Administration) Special Agent. Mr. Stutman has
been a consultant to CBS as well as many other national and international
organizations.
Matt Green has consulted on drugs in the workplace issues as well
as clinical protocol to corporations throughout the United States;
partial list includes: Arrow Electronics, Titleist Footjoy, Alberto
Culver, Sage, American Airlines, Chicago United School District,
National Football League...
Matt Green traveled to the island of St. Martin (Caribbean - Netherlands
Antilles) for over 2 years establishing a substance abuse treatment
center for the chain of islands. This was supported in part through
private capital and in part by a coordinated effort between the
Dutch and French governments.
Matt Green maintains a contract with the National Football League's
Program for Substances of Abuse. This program is cosponsored by
the NFL Management Council and the Players Association.
Matt Green has been a consultant to HBO (Home Box Office) in
the filming of their award winning documentary, "How to Raise a Drug
Free Child" hosted by Mary Tyler Moore, in 1987. Matt has also
appeared and consulted to the "HealthWeek" production of "Party
Pills" a Newsweek Film Production in association with PBS (Public
Broadcasting Systems); and has also taped a segment for CBS The
Early Show with Bryant Gumbel to be aired in early January 2001.
Matt Green has testified before Congressional Committees and has
been featured in national print (Christian Science Monitor, Boston
Globe, Boston Herald, Miami Tribune...) and in broadcast reports.
Matt Green has been on the Editorial Board of ; "The Journal of
Adolescent Chemical Dependency" and "The Journal of Child and
Adolescent Substance Abuse" both published by The Haworth Press
(NY).
Local/Regional Recognition
Matt Green has been on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts
Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) since 1994.
The MAMFT is a division of the American Association for Marriage
and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
Matt Green has presented a numerous local and regional conferences;
partial list includes: Northeast Annual Conference for Group Psychotherapy
(3 years presenting), Massachusetts Association for Drug and Alcohol
Abuse Counselors, Conferences sponsored by the following hospitals;
St. Elizabeth's Hospital (Brighton, MA), Newton Wellesley Hospital

Program, Substance Abuse Programs Administrators Association National

Matt Green, chairs the City of Newton Substance Abuse Coalition,
established in 1980; He is also on the Advisory Board for the
City of Newton Youth Commission and Special Advisor to the Mayor
of Newton, MA.

JOAN GREEN AND MATT GREEN
In their combined 43 years as professionals in the addictions
field, Joan and Matt Green have developed education, hotline,
and treatment programs for many types of organizations. They have
served as consultants to schools, governmental entities and industry,
and have authored book chapters, manuals and articles.
The Greens are coprincipals of Sameem Associates Inc., one of
the premier outpatient addictions treatment clinics in the Northeast.

In addition to their clinic based work, the Greens have coordinated
clinical resources for clients of Robert Stutman & Associates
Inc., a substance abuse in the workplace consulting firm. In
their
work with Stutman, the Green's have traveled throughout the United
States and the Caribbean, training and teaching in hospital and
clinic based programs as well as with school systems and government
agencies. They have trained employees and supervisors, managed
a 24 hour Drugline, consulted to management and wrote their manuals.
Their pioneering substance abuse program in Newton, Massachusetts,
networking schools, courts, employers, the police department,
probation departments, parole boards, and treatment facilities
(developed from 1968 to 1978), has been used as a model nationwide.
The Greens were named to the original organizing committee launching
the successful Governor's Alliance Against Drugs in 1984. This
work was highlighted in the presidential campaign for then Governor
Michael Dukakis. More than 100 schools and communities in Massachusetts
and other states have asked them to assist in the establishment
of drug and alcohol intervention programs. Both Joan and Matt
continue to work extensively with police departments across the
state (Mass.) in establishing community based programs. They developed
the first police and court program for substance abusing adolescents
in 1979, with then District Attorney Scott Harshbarger. For over
15 years they have been working with police officers in crisis
situations and counseling. Over the years they have been clinical
consultants to large city police departments (Boston), as well
as federal agencies, such as DEA.
For over a year and a half the Greens traveled to the island of
St. Martin and with the cooperation of the Dutch Government established
a substance abuse treatment clinic for the Dutch Antilles Islands.
Their clinical affiliations include Waltham-Weston Deaconess Hospital,
Beth Israel Deaconess Healthcare, AD Care Hospital Worcester,
McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA and Cambridge Hospital (Harvard
Medical School).
Matt Green is one of 31 Treatment Clinicians (TC) for the National
Football League (NFL) Program for Substances of Abuse. This program
is a cosponsored effort between the NFL Management Council and
the Players Association.

SUZANNE BRENNAN-NATHAN, LICSW, Clinical Director,
Sameem Associates, Inc. - South
Ms. Brennan-Nathan has specialized in the treatment areas of trauma
and additive behaviors since 1984. She is currently the clinical
director of the south area office for Sameem Associates.
Prior to her current role, Suzanne was the director of the Trauma
Treatment Team at Sameem Associates, Inc., Ms Brennan-Nathan was
the founding director of the award winning Child Sexual Abuse
team at Cambridge Hospital. In 1987, she was appointed as a Lecturer
on psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She has worked as a victim
specialist in a variety of clinical settings and has directed
a group treatment program for Adult Children of Alcoholics. She
has experience as an expert witness and guardian ad litem. Ms.
Brennan-Nathan has been on the clinical faculty at numerous colleges
and universities in the Boston area.

CHERYL HUNT, Psy.D.
Cheryl Hunt, Psy.D. is a trauma specialist at Sameem Associates,
Inc. She is also a staff psychologist at the Trauma Center in
Boston, MA. She trained and worked at the award winning Victims
of Violence Program at the Cambridge Hospital and was the Chief
Psychologist at the Women's Treatment Program at Metro West Medical
Center. She has held an academic appointment at Harvard Medical
School and currently is on the clinical faculty at Boston University
Medical School. Besides specializing in both trauma and substance
abuse treatment, Dr. Hunt is also certified in EMDR. Dr. Hunt
has presented in numerous academic conferences in psychology both
locally and nationally.

LUIS T. SANCHEZ, M.D.
Medical Director
Luis T. Sanchez, M.D. is the Medical Director at Sameem Associates,
Inc. Dr. Sanchez received his M.D. degree from Harvard Medical
School. He completed a general medical internship and psychiatric
residency at the Cambridge Hospital. Former positions include:
Medical Director of the Special Treatment Team for Addictions,
Cambridge-Somerville Unit at Westboro State Hospital; Chief of
Psychiatry at Central Hospital in Somerville, MA; Associate Medical
Director at Pembroke Hospital, Pembroke, MA; Medical Director
of the Addictions Treatment program at Waltham Weston Hospital,
Waltham, MA; Medical Director at the Division of Addictions at
Cambridge Hospital; Medical Director of the Addictions and Dual
Diagnosis Unit at the Arbour Hospital.
Dr. Sanchez, in addition to his work with Sameem Associates is
currently the Director of Physician Health Services (PHS), a corporation
of the Massachusetts Medical Society. PHS has the mission of providing
support and monitoring for physicians with a range of health issues
including substance abuse, mental health and medical problems.
Dr. Sanchez is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and
Neurology and has Added Qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry.

CHARLES J. REILLY, Ed.D.
Charles J. Reilly, Ed. D. is a clinical psychologist and addictions
specialist. Former positions include: Director of Psychology and
Forensic Services, Medfield State Hospital, Medfield, MA; Clinical
Director, Newton Guidance Clinic, Newton, MA; Clinical and Administrative
Director, Cambridge Psychiatric Associates, Cambridge, MA; Clinical
and Administrative Director, Human Resource Institute at Lawrence,
MA; Associate Clinical and Administrative Director, Human Resource
Institute at Lowell, MA.
Dr. Reilly in addition to his work with Sameem Associates is currently
the Director of Psychology and Forensic Services at Metro Boston
Inpatient Services, Lemuel Shattuck Hospital.
Dr. Reilly is certified by the American Psychological Association
and the Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive Disorders
as an Addictions Specialist. Dr. Reilly is also a Designated Forensic
Psychologist, a licensed Rehabilitation Counselor and a licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist.
FREDERIC SCHIFFER, MD
Psychiatrist, Sameem Associates, Inc.
Fredric Schiffer, M.D., a psychiatrist, is part of the Medical
staff for Sameem Associates, Inc.. Dr. Schiffer is focusing his
work at Sameem on Ambulatory Detoxification, psychopharm treatment,
as well as individual therapy. He is also leading a research component
with other members of the Sameem staff.
Dr. Schiffer is in addition a Clinical Assistant Professor of
Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School and is Associate Attending
Psychiatrist at McLean Hospital. His writing has been published
in the field's most prestigious publications, including the Journal
of Neuropsychiatry, Comprehensive Psychiatry, and the Harvard
Review of Psychiatry. Dr. Schiffer also maintains a clinical practice
in adult psychiatry in Newton, Massachusetts

BARRY POMERANTZ, LICSW, CAS
Family and Individual Therapist
Senior Clinician
Barry Pomerantz, LICSW, CAS is a senior clinician at Sameem Associates
who specializes in Family Therapy and has extensive experience
treating adolescents.
Barry got his Masters Degree in Social Work at Boston University,
and has been a senior clinician at Childrens Hospital and Family
Service. He consults to a number of independent day and boarding
schools in New England. Barry also maintains a private practice
in Newton, MA.
PATRICIA COSSIO, MD
Psychiatrist
Dr. Patricia Cossio, MD is a psychiatrist and psychophamacologist
at Sameem Associates, Inc. Dr. Cossio serves as a specialist assessing
the medical and medication needs of patients with psychiatric
disorders and dual diagnosis patients.
Dr. Cossio received her Medical Degree at the University of Chile
in 1970. She completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry at Boston
State Hospital, and the Peter Brent Brigham Hospital. She has
been a staff psychiatrist at Medfield State Hospital, Newton Wellesley
Hospital and has been affiliated at the Children's Hospital Medical
Center in Boston. Dr. Cossio maintains an appointment as an Instructor
in Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School and has supervised
at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She has consulted to numerous
clinics and hospitals throughout her career. Dr. Cossio, in addition
to her role at Sameem Associates maintains a private practice
in Brookline, MA
CRAIG BENNETT, LICSW
Craig Bennett is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
(LICSW) with over 25 years of experience in the field of mental
health. Craig is a practitioner of individual, couples, family
and group psychotherapy with all age groups at Sameem Associates,
Inc. He works primarily out of the office in Sharon, MA.
Craig received his masters in social work from Simmons College
School of Social Work in 1983. He is a Board Certified Diplomate
in Clinical Social Work. He is proficient in working with individuals
who have concerns about substance abuse. Craig is accomplished
in both short and long term psychotherapy with an emphasis on
solution focused treatment.
CARIE GAVIGAN, Ph.D.
Dr. Gavigan earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Fordham
University where her dissertation focused on motivation of patients
for substance abuse treatment. Her postdoctorate fellowships were
at the VA Boston Healthcare System and her predoctorate internship
was through the Harvard Medical School. She has worked at a variety
of settings including Pembroke Hospital, Stepping Stone Day Treatment
Center, Psychiatric Institute at Malden Hospital, as well as at
other residential youth settings. Her teaching experience includes
assistantships at Fordham University and Adjunct Professor at
Lesley University. Dr. Gavigan is a staff clinician in the Newton
office.
JODI SCHWEBEL, MA, LMHC, ATR
Ms. Schwebel has been working in the outpatient setting for the
last 7 years providing individual, couples, and family therapy
with an emphasis in women's psychology. Prior, she spent 15 years
in varying clinical and administrative roles within the Day Treatment
Community. Ms. Schwebel is a staff clinician in the Sharon office
location.
SUE KORBER, RN, MS, C.S.
Sue Korber is a clinical nurse specialist who is prescribing
medication to both children and adults in our Newton and Sharon
locations. She has been a practicing nurse since 1977 getting
her BS degree from Simmons College and her Masters degree from
Boston University in 1983. She has had extensive training and
experience in psychopharmacology and has been on staff at Childrens
Hospital in Boston, Tufts New England Medical Center, Harvard
Vanguard Associates and Charles River Health Management. She
has an expertise in dual diagnosis evaluation and treatment
with an extensive knowledge of substance abuse and addictive
disease. Sue also directed the Mental Health program at the
Brighton Marine Health Plan serving children ages 0-17 who
are dependents of military personnel.
