Sameem
Associates is dedicated to the out-patient treatment of addictive
disorders/chemical dependency. Sameem Associates is staffed by
both licensed and certified clinicians specializing in addictions
treatment. The multidisciplinary team consists of psychiatrists,
clinical nurse specialists, psychologists, social workers, family
therapists and addiction counselors
OFFENDERS GROUPS
These ongoing groups are for males and females between the ages
of 19 and 35 who are involved with the courts (on probation or
parole) because of a substance abuse related crime. The group
is psychoeducational -- addressing substance abuse related activity
and how this has impacted the individual's life. Urine toxic screening
is available. Monthly attendance reports can be submitted to the
referral source. Group eligibility means the individual must attend
2 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings weekly in addition to group attendance.
Fee is $40 per week.

EARLY RECOVERY GROUP FOR MEN
This long-term psychotherapy group is for males only. The ages
are from 30 to 60. Emphasis is on the 12-step program philosophy.
Eligibility means individuals must be abstinent from substance
use (including alcohol) for a minimum of 2 weeks and must be attending
either Alcoholics Anonymous and/or Narcotics Anonymous weekly.
Group limited to 8 members. Fee is $40 per session.

PARENT
SUPPORT GROUPS
These long-term support groups are for parents of individuals
with chemical dependency problems. The group provides support,
education and strategies on how to cope with the addicted family
member. Attendance at AI-Anon is strongly encouraged. Fee is $40
per session, per member.

EARLY RECOVERY GROUP FOR WOMEN
This long-term psychotherapy group is for women only. Ages are
22 and older. It is an issue oriented group for women in sobriety
concerned with relationships, trust, resentment .... Early recovery
means double digit recovery time, i.e., 24 hours. The group includes
members with both short-term and long-term abstinence (from. 1
day to 12 years or more). Membership in a 12-step program is recommended.
Eligibility means individuals must be abstinent from mind-altering
chemicals. Group limited to 8 members. Fee is $40 per session.

YOUNG ADULT GROUP
This ongoing group is for males ages 19-29. Eligibility means
individuals must be abstinent from mind-altering chemicals and
motivated to work on sobriety. Most individuals in this group
are active members of Alcoholics Anonymous and/or Narcotics Anonymous.
Fee is $40 per session.

ADOLESCENT (TEENAGE) INTERVENTION
GROUPS
These groups are for those teenagers 13-19 who are referred because
family, school, court or community agencies have a concern about
their drug and alcohol use and/or the teen has a concern about
his/her drug/alcohol use. Individuals explore whether or not their
use is a problem or a dependency. Monthly progress reports can
be sent to referral source. Periodic review sessions with parents
on the teen's progress is included. Fee is $40 per session.

MEDICATION GROUP
This group is for individuals in treatment at Sameem Associates
and have an additional diagnosis that requires psychiatric medication.
The group will help individuals process what it is like to be
on medication as well as coping with their addictive disease --
the recovery process. A visit with our psychiatrist to review
and reassess medication protocol will take place during the group
process. Meetings: Once monthly.

RECOVERY GROUP FOR OVEREATERS
These time-limited (10 and 20 session) groups are for women age
18 and older who struggle with compulsive overeating and/or purging
behaviors such as bulimia, dieting, and excessive exercise. Through
experiential exercise, group discussion, psychoeducation and support,
the group will explore topics such as self care, legalization
of food, forbidden food, feeling identification, body image, sexuality
and family issues. Group fee: $40.00 per session. Maximum 8 members.

RECOVERY GROUP FOR ADULT CHILDREN
OF ALCOHOLICS/ HIGH STRESS FAMILIES
This ongoing therapy group is for women and men ages 2 5 and older
who find they have been affected growing up in high stress families,
including chemical addiction, mental illness, suicide, physical/or
sexual abuse, divorce or chronic illness. Through group process
or support members address issues of trust, intimacy, relationship
and self esteem. Group fee: $40.00 per session

SEXUAL ABUSE SURVIVOR'S SUPPORT
GROUP
This long term support group is for women age 22 and older who
have completed a time limited survivor's group and would like
to address survivor's issues, such as trust, intimacy, memory,
relationships, sexuality and body image in more depth. Group requires
a minimum one year commitment. Fee is $40.00 per session. Maximum
8 members.

TIME LIMITED SEXUAL ABUSE SURVIVOR'S
GROUP
These time limited (12 and 26 session) groups are for women, age
22 and older who were sexually abused during childhood and/or
adolescence. Group members must be substance free for a minimum
of one year. Using group discussion, experiential exercises and
psychoeducation, group members will explore the impact of sexual
abuse on their adult functioning. Group fee is $40.00 per session.
Maximum of 6 members.

MEDITATION
& RELAXATION GROUP
This time limited group meets in S sessions, 1 1/2 hour segments
for males females struggling with stress reduction as a strategy
to reduce obsessive compulsive behaviors, e.g., drug/alcohol abuse
-- addiction, relapse, and other negative behaviors. The group
will teach a variety of meditation and relaxation techniques to
help facilitate an individuals' recovery. The group is designed
as a supplement to an individuals' existing treatment and/or therapy.
Fee is $45.00 per session.

ADULT INTERVENTION GROUP
This group is for adults (both men and women) who are 29 years
of age or older. Individuals' in the group have concerns about
their drug and/or alcohol use. They may have been through one
or several in-patient treatments or detoxification, or, may be
examining their problems associated with use for the first time.
Group members explore whether or not their use is a problem or
a dependency, and what strategies will be most helpful to change
behavior. Fee is $40.00 per session.

EARLY MORNING CONNECTION GROUP
This group runs 5 mornings per week for those individuals who
wish to begin their day thinking about recovery. Coffee, juice,
muffins are served. This group gives individuals a chance to talk
with others about how they begin their day -- their plan for the
day -- a look back at how the previous day had gone -- and a chance
to process how recovery is going. Individuals have the chance
to talk about treatment issues, medication issues, or anything
else related to their recovery. Individuals can choose for themselves
the day or days they wish to attend, by just showing up that day.
Fee is $ 5.00 per session.

INTRODUCTION TO RECOVERY
This time limited (6 session) group runs in a continuous cycle
for men and women ages 16 and older who need an introduction and
education to addiction and the process of recovery. Using a psycho
educational modality, each session will focus on a different aspect
of addiction and recovery. Individuals can enter the 6 week program
at any time but must make a commitment to complete the cycle.
Fee is $40.00 per session. No maximum number of group members.

ADOLESCENT SUBSTANCE ABUSE INTERVENTION
GROUP
This is a group for teenagers who are referred because of family,
school, court or community agencies have a concern about their
substance use. Members explore the nature and consequences of
their substance use. Monthly progress reports can be sent to the
referral source. Periodic review sessions with parents on the
teen's progress are an expected part of the program.
Time: Thursdays 3-4 PM
Fee: $40 per session (plus initial evaluation)

POST-DETOX,
EARLY RECOVERY GROUP
This group is for individuals between the ages of 20 and 60 who
have either just finished an inpatient detoxification treatment;
are in the process of outpatient detoxification either at Sameem
Associates or at another facility; or have recently finished an
outpatient detoxification treatment. The focus of the group is
to help individuals maintain abstinence, establish connections
with self help programs and to be evaluated for other types of
rehabilitation treatment and/or medication assessment. Individuals
must make an initial commitment to attending the group for 12
weeks. This group can compliment other programs and/or groups
at Sameem Associates.
As with all treatment modalities at Sameem, most forms of commercial
insurance, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Magellan, Tufts Associated
Health Plans, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Aetna, United Behavioral
Health, United Health Care, Value Options, as well as self pay
(credit cards accepted) are all accepted for payment
